FORMER Dragons full-back Dan Evans has Shane Williams in his sights after signing a two-year contract extension with the Ospreys.

The 32-year-old has been a huge hit since heading to the Liberty Stadium from Rodney Parade in 2014, when he had been displaced by former Lions full-back Lee Byrne.

Evans has been a model of consistency for the Ospreys and is the quickest player to reach 100 appearances for the club.

The twice-capped full-back is second on the all-time try scorer list with 51 – just six behind legendary speedster Shane Williams.

Evans is relishing the opportunity to keep producing the goods for the Ospreys over the next two campaigns.

He said: "I'm delighted to have signed a new contract here and the coaches have shown faith in me to give me an extension to my deal.

"I'm very pleased with what I've achieved so far in an Ospreys jersey and hopefully there will be more to come over the next two years.

"It's an exciting place to be right now and we're looking at finishing this season on a high and hopefully take the momentum we've built this season into the next."

The left-footer is a solid, depandable performer in the PRO14, highlighted by him bringing up a double century of appearances in the competition against Leinster in March.

Evans came through the ranks at the Scarlets as a fly-half before moving back to 15 and impressing over two seasons at the Dragons.

His exit was a surprise one and the Ospreys have profited with head coach Toby Booth pleased to have the back from Amman Valley as an option.

"Dan's passion for the game of rugby is there for all to see. He has the ability to break the game up for you," said Booth.

"He brings a real attacking threat from full back, with an intelligent kicking game. I know he is enjoying how we want to play the game and his performances have shown that too."
