FOLLOWING bomb threats at a number of UK schools yesterday, a Monmouth company has offered its support to schools in Gwent.

Victvs, based in Monmouth, provide training for education professionals on how to understand the dangers of violence in schools and how to respond to the individual risk levels that they face.

The company says it can assist with how best to to handle telephone bomb threats, the likes of which closed 26 schools yesterday.

As telephone bomb threats are now easily purchased over the internet for just a few pounds, they are said to be becoming an increasing threat to schools, especially around exam season.

But Victvs managing director Ben Clayson says his team work with teachers and staff to prepare for these potential incidents.

He said yesterday: “The wave of telephoned threats that occured are a shocking example of a change of attitude among certain members of our society.

“In helping school staff to respond to these types of incidents, we focus very much on giving people the correct knowledge about what they should actually do, and how to find the confidence to act.”
