Looks like it's snowing in Newport city centre and we've had reports of snow showers in Gold Tops.

PARTS of Gwent could get snow later today and tomorrow as the Met Office issued a yellow 'Be Aware' warning for Wales.

The warning for showers of snow now includes Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly along with much of north and central Wales.

Over Wales only 1-3 cm is likely in places at low levels with 5-10 cm possible over higher ground. Strong, gusty winds will lead to drifting and temporary blizzard conditions over high ground, while icy surfaces and lightning pose additional risks in some areas.

PARTS of Wales could see snow later tonight as temperatures drop.

The Met Office forecast says there could be snow on hills with frost and icy patches away from the coasts.

Today, rain will begin to clear this morning as the day becomes colder and brighter. A cold afternoon will follow with sunshine and some showers, including snow on hills, feeding in on the strong northwesterly winds.

Tonight will continue to be windy with clear spells and rain, sleet and snow showers, frequent across the north and west of Wales The minimum temperature will be 0C.

Thursday will be cold and windy with sunny spells and showers of rain and snow, especially across northern and western parts with any snow confined to higher ground. The maximum Temperature 5C.

The outlook for Friday to Sunday sees sunshine and showers on Friday, with snow mostly confined to the hills. Northerly winds will draw down colder air through the weekend with sunny spells and scattered snow showers. It will be frosty at night.
